ONE TIP
6 Keys to Effective Practice!

Now that we are into the new year, many of you will start to spend time working on your golf game to try to have a fantastic 2024 on the golf course. Unfortunately, many of you make simple mistakes which can affect the quality of your practice and therefore hurt your chances of shooting lower scores this year. this week I'm giving you six keys to more effective practice, let's go! I have a PDF summarizing these 6 keys below

I dive into this topic deeper in the video below, check it out!

#1 Prep Your Body!

This is more than just once you get to the driving range, and yes you should warm up once you get there. If we want our bodies to feel as good as they can when we practice things we do before we get to the driving range play a big part in that. On days you’re going to practice make a conscious effort to hydrate more than you normally do, and eat better than you normally do. More water during the day and a few healthier eating decisions can play a big part in giving you the best chance to feel your best in practice.
I have a 3-minute warm-up you should check at the bottom of this email!

#2 What are you going to work on?

Be specific with this one! Are you working on your full swing? if so, what drills are you going

to do, and what training aids are you going to use? Are you working on fun at how far your clubs go? working on your short game? this question needs to be answered before you get to the driving range. a clear direction on what you're working on can set you up for success.

#3 Setup your workstation!

Before you hit a single golf shot set up your workstation. Set up your alignment rods, set up your camera for taking video, and get your training aids out of your bag. For those of you who like to set up your golf balls in little bundles of let's say five now is the perfect time to do it. For many golfers, once they start hitting golf balls it is unlikely that they're going to set up the things they need for a good practice session. Get this done first!

#4 What is your feedback system

It's great you're going to practice, but what are you going to use to know how your practice is going?  If you're practicing with a launch monitor, specifically what data points are you looking for and what range should they be in? If you're recording your golf swing and checking for specific positions what should they look like and do you have a reference point? If you're using the flight of the golf ball are you watching the entire ball flight until the ball lands? Commit to knowing in advance what your feedback system is going to be.

#5 Quality over Quantity

It's okay to hit fewer balls! if you're working on making a positive change in your golf swing don't rush to try to hit as many golf balls as possible in a certain amount of time. The quality of your practice along with your focus and your intent matters so much more than the amount of golf balls you hit. Make more rehearsal swings, and record your golf swing to send to your coach, these things will make a difference.

#6 Use a 5-Minute Timer

To help you focus on a specific task one thing I would like you to do is set a 5-minute timer on your phone. once you set that timer only focus on one thing for 5 minutes. When the timer goes off take a one or two-minute break, grab a drink of water and give yourself a short break. None of us can carry deep focus for a long period, so let's see if we can do it for 5 minutes at a time.
